Missoula Woman Resists Arrest After Disturbance at FedEx

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At approximately 7:15 p.m. on July 20, 2026, Missoula Police Department officers responded to the FedEx store at 130 W. Broadway following a report of an individual inside who had refused to leave and was pulling items off the shelf. Upon arrival, the officers observed 22-year-old Cassidy Heller taking items and placing them in a small bin on the ground, including items still in packaging, empty packaging, and items removed from packages.

Heller stated that she had intended to “make some purchases and then I don’t know.” When officers attempted to place Heller in custody, she began tensing her arms and attempted to get them in front of her body. An officer placed his right hand on Heller’s shoulder and pressed forward so that she would bend over at the waist. Heller then did a front flip, landing on her back on the floor. Heller then stood up and continued physically resisting and attempting to get her hands in front of her.

She was ultimately placed into handcuffs. The officer conducted a search of Heller’s pockets, which found a clear glass pipe with a bulb at the end, a hole on top, and residue inside, which the officer recognized as consistent with the use of methamphetamine.

Heller stated she would comply, but then attempted to bend over and slip her handcuffs under her feet to the front. She was then held down until other units arrived. Heller later slipped her right wrist from the handcuffs, requiring further force until a smaller set of handcuffs and WRAP device were applied. She was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility.

FedEx staff determined that Heller had damaged or destroyed 11 total items with a total value of $146.34. A detective later followed up with an assistant manager who confirmed that he had asked Heller to leave the store approximately five times before law enforcement was called.

Heller is currently being charged with felony burglary, resisting arrest, and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $15,000.
