Missoula Man Wakes Up to a Stranger Inside His Home
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 27, 2026, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a report on the 600 block of Prince Street. The 911 caller, John Doe reported to dispatch that a female had broken into his apartment, was yelling at him about owing her money, and was slamming herself into the wall. Upon officers’ arrival, dispatch informed them that the female suspect was getting into a grey SUV.
An officer observed a grey SUV parked with a female in the driver’s seat. The female was ordered out of the car, after which she responded by saying “okay” but did not make any attempt to get out of the vehicle. The female was instructed multiple times to step out, however, the female leaned backwards and physically resisted. The female had to be removed from the vehicle, at which time she was identified as 35-year-old Heather Mitchell.
While officers were attempting to place Mitchell in handcuffs, she stiffened up her arms temporarily. The officer placed Mitchell under arrest for obstructing, and a pocket knife was found in her shorts.
While the officer was speaking with Mitchell, another officer spoke with Doe. Doe stated he had been asleep when he heard loud knocking at his front door. Doe initially ignored the knocking and then realized he had left the door unlocked. Doe then heard the door open.
Doe got up and encountered an unknown female inside his residence, near the front door. Doe reported that the female called him “Ryan” and claimed he owed her $250. Mitchell told Doe that if he did not pay, she was going to get the homies and beat the s**t outta him.
Doe reported that while he was on the phone with 911, Mitchell slammed herself against his front door and loudly stated, “I pulled a knife on him.” Doe stated he did not see a knife, but he feared she would become violent based on her behavior. The officer asked Doe what made him feel in danger, and Doe stated it was Mitchell’s extremely erratic behavior and her accusations. Doe stated he had never seen Mitchell before and appeared visibly shaken.
