Who’s Montana’s Oldest Hunter? And Can They Top This Super Gal?
Okay, full disclosure. We don't have a clue who Montana's oldest hunter might be.
Our guess is it is someone who has made it a way of life for decades upon decades. A passion deeply embedded in the soul that will never waver. Only when that person can't hunt any longer is when they will finally give it up.
Regardless of your age and how many years you've been hunting, you have to salute this hearty nonagenarian (yeah, I had to look up what people in their 90s are called, too)!
We were tickled when the Lonestar Outdoor Show alerted us to a 94-year-old south Texas legend, Laura Berry, who became a viral sensation about one year ago. She bagged the buck of a lifetime - a monster! This beast supposedly wasn’t farm-raised, tagged, tattooed or tracked. It is said to be as wild as they come, roaming free on a 6,000-acre Texas ranch with no high fences or deer management in sight.
WELL, THAT'S ONE ACCOUNT VIA "HUNTING THE WILD"
In an effort to set the record straight, a Lonestar Outdoor Show writer posted the following: “Lots of rumors regarding 94 year old Laura Berry and her Texas buck. I’ve seen outdoor news outlets reporting the 321-score (Boone and Crockett) buck is “free range” with “no introduced genetics”.
It is not. Berry Whitetails is a longtime staple in the deer breeding industry. They sell deer and semen. The buck might have been born in the pasture, but the pasture does indeed have a fence around it and the genetics have been manipulated over the years- not that I take issue with that at all."
Good call, friend! We think a 94-year-old lover of deer hunting deserves a hall pass, don't you?
