Kids Can Be Big Winners in Montana Youth Hunting Stories Contest
LAST CALL: Montana youth only have until December 2 to share their hunting experiences for a chance to have dinner with the governor and score amazing prizes!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT THEIR STORIES?
To honor Montana’s hunting traditions and celebrate the next generation of sportsmen and women, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks tells us that youth hunters between the ages of 10 and 17 are invited to tell Governor Greg Gianforte their best hunting story. Winners of the story contest will have a wild game dinner with the governor and have the opportunity to win prizes from Montana brands like Sitka, Stone Glacier and Kenetrek Boots.
AGE CATEGORIES AND MULTIPLE WINNERS
This is the fourth year for the Youth Hunting Story Contest. The governor selects 10 hunters, five aged 10-13 and five aged 14-17. The winners are announced in December and then hosted in Helena at the Capitol in January.
ENTRY RULES
To enter the contest, young hunters submit a story of no more than 500 words, along with a photo from their 2025 hunt, any species and any time of the year. Our young contestants must be Montana residents and licensed hunters or apprentice hunters. Eligible entries include harvesting any legal game, furbearer animals or birds in Montana.
