David Lynch’s Montana Connection
Unfortunately, I have been writing more eulogy-like stories over the past few weeks than I ever wanted to. Former Lady Griz Malia Kipp and former Grizzly Football player Joe Klucewich both passed away on New Year's Eve.
Now, it's Missoula's David Lynch.
Calling Lynch "Missoula's" is a bit of a stretch, I admit. Lynch was born in Missoula on January 20th, 1946. Ironically, Lynch passed away just 4 days before his 79th birthday this year. After Lynch's birth, his parents didn't stay in Missoula for long. According to SBS News, Lynch's father was a research scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A job that required the Lynch family to travel frequently. According to IMDB, "Lynch spent his childhood being shunted from one state to another as his research scientist father kept getting relocated. He attended various art schools."

His time in Missoula was short, but we still like to recognize "our own." Very fittingly, Missoula's Roxy Theater is showing Mulholland Drive as a part of their films about filmmaking series on Sunday, January 19th, and now Monday, January 20th. The Roxy added an extra showing after Lynch's death.
Lynch is known for writing on Mulholland Drive and hit TV show Twin Peaks.
