
This Unusual Beer Uses Bear Poop From Montana
Montana has its share of great beer makers, and occasionally I have been known to sample one or two of them. Over the years, there have been some beer flavors I have been hesitant to try. I am not a big fan of fruit, even though I have heard good things about Flathead Cherry Ale from Glacier Brewing; it’s just not something I have tried.
The Most Unusual Beers Ever Brewed
One of the more exotic beers I have tried is Rogue Ale’s Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale. That was interesting to say the least. Rogue Ales was based in Newport, Oregon, and they abruptly closed in November 2025, which surprised a lot of people.

There’s another beer being brewed in Oregon that is getting some national attention for its unique ingredients. Breakside Brewery is releasing a limited-edition brew called “Nature Calls” that’s infused with bear poop. Yep, bear poop.
Why Bear Poop Was Used in This Beer
According to Bro Bible, Breakside Brewery has teamed with Columbia Sportswear for this intriguing concoction. So, where is Breakside getting the bear poop? It’s sourced from black bears in Montana. The poop “was “infused” into water from the Bull Run River before it was processed to make it safe to drink.” Nature Calls is described as having “notes of honey and huckleberry.” Of course, they chose Montana bear poop to use, after all everyone knows it's the best.

The release comes just in time for the big game. The bad news is that you must go to a Breakside Brewery location in Oregon to pick some up. If you have friends in Oregon, you may want to contact them to see if they can get some for you before it’s all gone. I’ve already reached out to my friends.
