Dear Missoula homes still celebrating the holidays,

Way to go. Way to keep up the holiday spirit. There have been multiple holidays that have come and gone since Christmas. Martin Luther King Jr. Day has passed, as well as Presidents' Day and your decorations are still up and shining in the dark night.

The Super Bowl has come and gone. For the big game this year traditional colors of red and green could have represented the teams competing. Red for the K.C. Chiefs and green for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Driving along Higgins Avenue yesterday I saw there are still garland decorations and lights on some of the poles on the south side of Beartracks Bridge on the "Hip Strip". I am sure they will be gone one of the days very soon.

There are a few houses in my neighborhood that still have their holiday lights on display. For a person who goes to work before the sun rises in the mornings it makes me smile to see those lights every morning. Especially after we got the major snowfall a couple of weeks ago. Looking at some of the houses, you would have had no idea that Christmas was over two months ago.

We are now officially in March. The weather is starting to warm up and we turn the clocks ahead this weekend to enter into Daylight Saving Time. Will Montana finally do away with changing our clocks twice a year? We are close to making that happen.

When spring officially arrives on Thursday, March 20, will you then take down your lights? If you wait until the first day of spring, you can then include St. Patrick's Day in your celebration. Green lights would be great for the annual holiday of "the wearing of the green".

One of these days all the holiday decorations will eventually be taken down for another season. For all those who keep the holidays going, thank you for doing what you do. Keeping the holiday spirit alive every year for as long as you do takes some effort, and don't think that it isn't appreciated.

Sincerely

Chris Wolfe
