A New Study Says This Is Montana’s Favorite Gas Station
I am guessing that when this article comes out about which gas stations are most popular and which road trip snacks are preferred by state, there will be many comments stating that Montana's number #1 gas station is definitely Town Pump. And that is most likely true.
However, I wanted to provide a brief explanation of how the people behind this study came up with their discovery. The study was based on analyzing Google Trends over the last year. They took 75 of the biggest gas stations and compared them using Google Trends. That way, they could find out which brand was the most searched for by people looking for where to stop while traveling through each state. This means that since Town Pump has only locations within the State of Montana (it does not have locations in other states), it did not qualify as an option to include in the study.
Once we eliminate Town Pump...
Conoco takes the top position as the favorite gas station in Montana! Which is interesting. Isn't Conoco just the brand of fuel? I have seen Town Pumps with both Conoco and Exxon. In fact, Missoula has a Conoco Town Pump on Grant Creek
And as far as our favorite snack to take on the road... Cracker Jack gets the prize!
To say I was surprised by both of these would be putting it mildly.
Anyone who has ever traveled throughout Montana knows that stopping at a Town Pump is basically mandatory. You need to fill up your car prior to crossing a mountain pass, or grab a bite to eat prior to getting back onto the highway after hours of open road. It is really becoming a staple of Montana travel.
My personal favorite item to pick up at Town Pump is a hot case item. Give me a BBQ burrito or a buffalo chicken Crispito, and I am a happy man.
In fact, I recently met a tourist who asked me what he had to get at Town Pump. I told him my advice was the BBQ burritos (because I already bought the remaining Crispitos.) He immediately purchased four of them. He asked me if Town Pump was Montana's version of Buc-ee's. I told him it was their cousin from the North.
Now I'm hungry....
